I was commissioned by Modjeski and Masters to photograph their recently completed vertical lift bridge project across the San Bernard River near Sweeney, TX. The bridge replaced the older swing bridge.
We had a tight timeline to take photos on the tracks. The original plan was to shut down train and waterway traffic for 45 minutes to allow me to capture images on the tracks from both sides of the bridge, and to briefly climb the structure for some elevated detail shots. Train traffic was heavy that Monday morning, and so we were able to be on the bridge for 10 minutes before having to allow the waiting trains to pass.
The photos were published in the December 2019 edition of Roads and Bridges Magazine.
