Alcatraz Island is a beautiful place. I thoroughly enjoyed the flowers, birds, views of the bay, and the decaying parts of the prison. It is a must when traveling to the San Francisco area. Just be sure to get your tickets ahead of time. They sell out 2-3 weeks in advance during the summer. The night and early bird cruises are the best.
